Topic Seeds & Competitors

Topic seeds are the raw inputs that drive InkieAI's research engine. Each seed is a short phrase or question representing a content area you want to own. You can add up to 20 seeds per site. Good seeds are specific enough to attract qualified traffic but broad enough to generate multiple article angles. Examples: "kubernetes security best practices" or "early stage SaaS pricing strategies."

Competitor domains power the gap analysis layer. When you add a competitor URL, InkieAI crawls their content index and identifies topics they rank for that overlap with your seeds. The system then scores each gap by estimated search volume, keyword difficulty, and how well the topic aligns with your brand summary. You control the minimum relevance threshold in Site Settings.

Seeds and competitors are not static. We recommend rotating competitor domains quarterly and pruning underperforming seeds after 30 days of data. The Topic Performance dashboard shows which seeds are generating the most article opportunities and which competitors are surfacing the highest-value gaps.
